Janet Napolitano - "Big Sis" is in charge of keeping America safe, is she INTJ or ENTJ
Sunday, March 7, 2010 at 05:35AM I'd really rather not wind up having my emails read by the Federal Government, so I will keep this reserved to facts only.
Janet Napolitano was a 2-term governor in the state of Arizona, which was no surprise to anybody who went to high school with her - according to her Wikipedia page (which told me virtually nothing about her personally) she was voted "most likely to succeed".
But that, along with her being a valedictorian and her illustrious climbing of the political ladder, tells me quite a bit about her.
Her appearance, marriage to career instead of a dude, and overall politics (she used her veto powers 180 times while governor, a record!) tell even more.
From what I just described, what's that sound like? The J jumps out (unless she's like Dubya and thought "usin' them veto thingy's is fun!") right away. Studious, hardworking, and with a career path in mind since she was young, one which required a lot of study and hard work. She apparently hasn't wavered and that has paid off. Her appearance is also very tailored, business-like, and J.
Given that she went into law and government and has been successful, as well as her success when younger and in school (that does say a lot about a person when combined with the sum of their lives - it shows in this case she wasn't just a product of Nurture, but rather disciplined studiousness is in her Nature), I'd say she is definitely a T, and probably NT.
So we're at _NTJ, which is fitting for the leader of the "homeland security" wing of the most powerful (?) government on the planet. Dick Cheney (INTJ) and Hillary Clinton (ENTJ) are cut from similar cloth.
Is Janet an extravert or an introvert though? I had to find a clip on YouTube to decide, since I had never seen her talking and given the little that I know about her life, that's the quickest and easiest way to tell (the eyes never lie...).
Definitely appears to be an introvert - conserves energy, almost seems stone-like (which fits an older INTJ), but what I found odd is that she almost never blinks.
My take is, Janet Napolitano, the current US director of homeland security, is the same brain type as the former Vice President, Dick Cheney - both are INTJ.
Now, is that good typology for her position? I think so, yes.
An INTJ is going to be able to analyze a myriad of possibilities, deduce the potential outcomes, and come up with innovative ways to control the entire spectrum of cause and effect.
Being introverted helps as she'll be satisfied with focusing on her part and her role (or using that veto!), rather than having a need to gallivant around the world to tell everybody else how to run their country (see: ENTJ Hillary Clinton, Falkland Islands).
I'm not going to weigh in on whether she or her policies make me feel any safer, but I will say I think her brain type is very well suited for the analytical, problem solving needs of a position that pretty much controls American society.
